Recently, I’ve been obsessed with watching beauty videos on youtube. It has almost become a routine for me to watch monthly favourites, hauls, vlogs and all the random stuff that these so called “beauty gurus” post on their pages… So, I just had the idea to also come up with my own must-haves for the spring and summer. I thought it would be a fun way to spice up my blog and share my thoughts on some of my favourite beauty products!!
First, I’ve got to say that I cannot live a day without wearing sunscreen. No matter the season, no matter if it’s -30 degrees outside. I MUST wear sunscreen. This is something dermatologists have stressed for years. Not only does sunscreen helps keep your skin looking youthful and radiant, but it also prevents skin cancer and God knows no one in this planet wants to die of cancer… I don’t have a specific brand I prefer, however I always go for protection that is above 30 SPF. My Chanel sunglasses are also a big favourite. I love them, I am obsessed, I feel like a million bucks every time I wear them. I must admit that my budget would not allow me to splurge on these babies. I have to thank my sister for giving them to me as a present. Yay for big sisters! My last sun-protection product is the Wet N’Wild’s Juicy lip balm… I mean, there is nothing really magic about this product besides the fact that it has 15 SPF and it smells like berries. I like it!
During the spring and summer it is important to let your skin breathe by keeping the makeup light and simple. Which is why I am a big fan of full-coverage foundations that can still manage to look natural. I think Rimmel’s Wake Me Up foundation really gives you the best of both worlds. it is light, yet buildable and it leaves your skin looking super glowy!
Talking about glowy skin, hot weather means one thing: sweat. For me, it is crucial to always, no matter the season, keep some matifying powder in my purse. I do want to look radiant, but not to the point where my face looks like I poured olive oil on it. Currently, I am loving Physicians’s Formula Youth-Boosting powder. What’s really good about this powder is that it won’t leave your face looking cakey at all!
L’oreal’s wet shine stains are Ah-mazing! They are so light, moisturizing and natural-looking. I really love them… However, they do have a weird smell and taste to them. Gotta compromise! Lip Smacker chapsticks are just magical for spring and summer. I’m only going to say one thing: They had me at ‘Pineapple flavour’.
I must confess I have currently become obsessed with two shades of nail polish: mint and coral. I think they are the perfect colours for spring and summer. they go with any outfit, they look vibrant, young, fun, they’re just amazing. Right now, my favourites are Revlon’s “Jaded” for the mint shade and Sally Hansen’s “Coral Reef” for the coral shade obviously.
The Macadamia Oil “Nourishing leave-in Cream” is definitely my current favourite hair product. This stuff is just too good to be true. I must say it is quite expensive, but definitely worth the money. It smells awesome, it moisturizes your hair and leaves it feeling really soft. A good nourishing cream is something extremely important for me, not only because I have fine hair, but also because it is curly and it tends to get quite dry at the ends. Again, you want to protect it from the sun and what better than natural oils to make it look shiny and healthy. Last but not least is what I consider to be spring’s signature scent: Daisy by Marc Jacobs. This perfume was given to me by a friend a few years ago. At that time, I was not a big fan of the smell nor of Marc Jacobs. However, I have recently rediscovered this perfume and every time I put it on, I feel like such a delicate and feminine woman. This fragrance is sparkly and youthful yet sophisticated. It has notes of strawberry, pink grapefruit and daisy flowers… Delightful! You know this perfume is a keeper when every time you put it on the whole world compliments you on it!
I could obviously go on for ages here, but I’m going to keep it nice and short. However, I will definitely keep my eyes open for some more amazing beauty products for this spring and summer. Cheers!
